FR4NKIE - The Overview Effect

FR4NKIE (formerly XP) has cemented himself as a household name in the rap and grime scenes in this country, and looks to solidify that status further with his sophomore ablum, The Overview Effect. Produced by Trolley Snatcha, this album sees FR4NKIE showcase his lyrical and melodical talent of a variety of sounds, as he demonstrates the evolution of his sound over the years.

It's the maturity of this record that stands out most when you listen to it in its entirety. The level of social commentary and criticism on this album, which is at its finest on Another Day In Britian, demonstrates the MCs ability to encapsulate the struggle that people all across the country face and are struggling to deal with, with the lack of care and attention from those higher up. The video that accompanies this track further illustreates the bleak reality of another day in Britian, with footage from riots in Manchester and Ireland, reflecting the artist's heritage.

The Manchester-raised lyricist shows an introspective ability on tracks like Brick In The Wall and One Of Them, where FR4NKIE reflects on his life and upbringing with an open sense of honesty, allowing us as the listeners to further understand the man behind the artist, and connect with the album even more. Overall, this album is amazingly well-crafted, with genre-pushing sounds and ideas that are executed brilliantly by both the producer and the MC. The theme of the album is consistent throughout, with FR4NKIE's storytelling taking us on a journey that is thoroughly enjoyable.
