Adam R - 2023

Adam R has been on fire as of late and is known as one of the go-to guys for some hard-hitting grime production. From co-producing Kruz Leone's banger O.T Trips, to bringing his style on a few tracks for Vortex's project Warm Winter, Adam R is adding to his portfolio and his already impresssive discography by dropping his next project, an album with some of grime's hardest MCs.

2023 sees an array of MCs showcase their best lyrics over various of Adam R's best production. He definitely has honed in on his sound, with the gritty, booming tone on each track shining through the production, but each track has a slight twist to it to keep it sounding fresh and original across the album. One of the best tracks on the album for this - and just one of my favourites in general - is Patterns with Tiny Godfather and Tintz on the mic. The strings on this track stand out and carry the melody, piercing through the heavy, booming drums and allow both MCs to deliver their bars, with Tintz coming with a standout verse and Tiny Godfather's hook being immediately catchy.

Personally, I think we need to see more albums like this because it is a prime example of the scene coming together to work on something amazing and a body of work that can stand the test of time. With its simple yet effective name, it really does show the scene of 2023 in its best light.
